Online veterinary DICOM viewer The X-ray in the record,
not on a disc in a drawer.
The online DICOM viewer opens X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI studies in the patient record, on any computer in the clinic. Studies are stored in the cloud with the rest of the records, and a connected X-ray unit sends images back to the right visit by itself.
- X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRIeverything the unit saves in the DICOM standard
- Up to 2 GBin a single study uploaded to the patient record
- After signing outpatient images do not stay in the memory of the consult room computer
An X-ray taken in the morning usually stays on the computer next to the X-ray unit, and a CT scan from an outside imaging centre arrives on a disc. A vet who wants to look at it before surgery or show it to the owner has to go to that particular workstation or look for a disc drive on a laptop. A year later, at the recheck, nobody remembers where the pre-op disc is or whether it ever came back to the clinic.
In VetiCloud a DICOM study is part of the patient record. It is uploaded to the visit or straight to the record, including a whole disc or a zipped archive, and from then on it opens on any computer in the clinic, in an ordinary web browser. With the imaging unit connected through VetiCloud Bridge, the program effectively acts as a cloud PACS: the unit receives the patient worklist, images come back to the record, and the archive does not depend on a single disk in the imaging room.
How it works
-
01
A request from the program or a disc
A study requested from the visit goes onto the patient worklist on the unit, and the images come back to the record by themselves. A study from an outside imaging centre is uploaded from a disc, from a zipped archive or by dragging in a whole folder, including a large CT study.
-
02
Measurements in millimetres
Distance, angle and ROI area are calculated in millimetres from the scale stored in the study, including on X-ray and ultrasound. When the unit did not store a scale, the viewer says so plainly instead of passing pixels off as millimetres.
-
03
MPR and 3D rendering
CT and MRI series can be viewed in three planes at once, with a shared crosshair, or as a volume with tissue presets.
-
04
Density windows and ultrasound loops
Ready-made windows for lung, bone and soft tissue, negative, rotation and cine loop for ultrasound clips. Opening a study again does not download it from scratch.
A dog hit by a car: X-rays from the clinic and CT from the imaging centre
A dog hit by a car has pelvic X-rays taken at the clinic and a CT scan done at the imaging centre next door. At the X-ray unit the patient is picked from the worklist, so the images go straight back to the visit, and reception uploads the imaging centre’s disc to the record as an archive. The surgeon views both studies on a laptop in theatre, measures the displacement of the fragment in millimetres and reviews the fracture in three planes. She shows the owner the same images at the desk, without looking for the workstation next to the X-ray unit.
Questions and answers
Your question is not here? Call us: +48 222 992 995
Does the DICOM viewer require installing a viewing station?
No. The study opens in a web browser, on the same account as the rest of the program, including on a laptop in theatre.
Can VetiCloud replace a PACS in the clinic?
In practice it plays that role: an imaging unit connected through VetiCloud Bridge receives the patient worklist, images come back to the record, and the archive is stored in the cloud. A study can be downloaded as the original DICOM files at any time.
Which studies can be uploaded to the patient record?
Anything saved in the DICOM standard: X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI. Files are uploaded one by one, as a whole imaging centre disc or as a ZIP archive.
Is storage space for DICOM studies limited?
The imaging module includes a storage allowance in its price, and above it a monthly charge applies per gigabyte started. Going over the allowance does not block anything, and usage is shown in the owner panel.
Can another clinic treating the patient see the study?
Yes, the study can be viewed in the record of a patient shared by the owner. Only the clinic that uploaded it can delete it.
