Owners usually remember the rabies vaccination when the dog is due to go on holiday abroad with the family in a week. A post-op recheck easily slips their mind among everyday matters, and reception has no time to ring everyone whose parasite control or vaccination is about to run out.
In VetiCloud vaccination and recheck reminders go out by themselves, based on what the vet entered in the record and what reception booked in the diary. Owners with the app get a notification on their phone, and the clinic can keep text messages only for those the notification will not reach. The clinic sets the wording and timing of text messages.

Vaccinations and parasite control
The reminder concerns the latest vaccination: in the app it arrives 14, 7, 3 and 1 day before it expires, and by text message with the notice period the clinic sets. A combination vaccine gives a single reminder, and the app also keeps track of parasite control.

Visits, including rechecks
Every booked visit, including a recheck set at discharge, has a reminder: in the app a day and two hours before, by text message with the notice period the clinic sets.

Medication doses on time
The owner switches on reminders for the dosing schedule and chooses the time of the first dose. The app reminds them about each one after that, and the vet sees the ticked doses in the visit preview.

App first, then text message
In the “Push first, SMS only if it fails” mode, a text message goes only to owners without the app or with that notification category switched off. Owners who have unticked consent to text messages do not get them at all.
Nil by mouth from 22:00, recheck in a week
A dog is booked in for a dental scale and polish under general anaesthetic on Thursday at 9:00. When booking, reception chooses the pre-op instructions template with the preparation plan. On Wednesday at 22:00 the owner gets a reminder in the app to stop giving food, and on Thursday at 7:00 a reminder about the visit itself. Reception books the recheck in a week at discharge, so nobody has to remember that either.

When does the owner get a vaccination reminder?
In the app 14, 7, 3 and 1 day before it expires, during the day and not at night. The text message goes out once, with the notice in days set by the clinic.
Do recheck reminders go out automatically?
Yes, for every booked visit, including rechecks. That is why it is worth booking the recheck straight away at discharge, because then the reminder will go out by itself.
Can the text message wording be changed?
Yes. Each type of message has its own switch and a template with variables such as the clinic name, the animal’s name and the appointment time.
What if an owner does not want text messages?
They just untick text message contact when signing the data protection consent, or reception changes it in their record. The program will then send them neither confirmations nor reminders by text message from this clinic.
Will an owner with the app get both a text and a notification?
Not necessarily. In “push first” mode the text message goes out only when the notification cannot be delivered, and a skipped message does not use up the clinic’s text message allowance.
